You do this in Aliases, once the Alias is made, the URL rules can be edited.
Your aliases console URL should be something like follows:
http://localhost:8888/hosts/host@0/edit/aliases
Add the rule and redirect the rule to another server in the text-box.
But if you have not got an internal internet redirector (required), you will receive an error message in the real path.
So in URL rewriting make sure the following is entered:
Virtual Path Regular Expression : ^/example.file
