I'm trying to run Abyss on a computer running Vista 64-bit. Once the installation is done, I try to run the server (non-service mode), but any attempt to start or stop the server from the console page fails. In the Abyss window itself (not the console page in the browser), I get the following error sequence:

The data is invalid. (file: C:\Program Files (x86)\Abyss Web Server\persist.data - line: 0 - col: 0)
Cannot save the persistant data (file: C:\Program Files (x86)\Abyss Web Server\persist.data - line: 0 - col: 0)

(First of all, the word "persistent" is misspelled. But that's not why I'm posting.)
The result is that if the server is already started, I cannot stop it from the console. If it is already stopped, I cannot start it from the console.
If I initially launch Abyss with administrative privilege (right-click the icon and choose Run as Administrator), it works properly and none of these errors occur. But I do not want to do this. I don't think I should have to do this.
I suspect the problem is this: Vista's UAC does not give full access to any application without elevated privileges to its own root directory (in this case, C:\Program Files (x86)\Abyss Web Server), which is where the abyss.conf and persist.data files live.
Windows does make a bypass available by creating what it calls a "Compatibility Files" directory (C:\Users\(user)\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Abyss Web Server), which it allows the app full access to. However, Abyss never thinks to look for its config or data files in this directory, and insists instead on trying to access the locked versions in its own root directory, with predictable results.
What I would like to see is for Abyss's configuration to allow the user to specify a directory for the abyss.conf and persist.data files, rather than only accepting the default. Alternatively, it could simply detect the situation and use the VirtualStore directory automatically.
I would think this problem would affect all Vista (and Windows 7?) users, which is why I'm amazed that there don't seem to be any previous posts about this issue. Am I missing something obvious?
